There are days when I would like nothing better than to throw tomatoes at the nearest wall. Life can be a real downer some days. On those days, I have to take a step back, breathe, and ask myself, "Is this really that important?" Usually, the answer is, "No." After that, I can laugh about how wound up I got, how my blood was boiling, how my fists were clenched, all of the rapid thoughts that circled through my head, and that no, drowning yourself in a gallon of Ben & Jerry's is not going to make things go away. (Especially not your hips and thighs).
Laughter is one of the best ways to cure a sour puss. Not only is laughter free, but is contagious, and if you laugh long enough you may just find your positive energy seeping into people around you. Try it sometime, think of your favorite joke or perhaps a funny show on TV, enjoy the moment, then watch how your laughter encites others to carry out their day with a rejuvenation of sorts. Their steps may be lighter, their shoulder may not be hunched over as much, and their faces may seem more relaxed, more calm.
Laughter truly is the best medicine. After all, it is free! But yes, it is addictive, but then it does not have life threatening side effects, well maybe if you get an incurable fit of the giggles (as I have been prone to on occasion), maybe that could destroy your credibility a bit in the eyes of those 'oh so serious Matrix-types who never smile because they think it will ruin their ultra cool persona'. But then why bother with them? If being cool means you have to stand around and never bat a smile, never know the blush of a good giggle, then well being cool isn't such a great thing after all.
And I'd rather be thought of as silly and uncool anyday if that means I can laugh until my heart's content!
