I feel that my blog should start with a proper description of who is writing. This way you have some clues as to where I am coming from with my opinions and information. On that note, I will state first that everyone has their own opinions and I will never ever suggest that yours should be the same as mine (or that yours are wrong for not being mine). I will never know everything about every subject so forgive me if I make uneducated guesses. I am not the wisest, brightest, most beautiful best speller in the universe and if that irks you then you best find a different blog to read. I am human.
My RL name is Hannah. I'm 24 years old, but really I'm 24 going on 40. I am married to a wonderful man 13 years my senior (he's 37 for those who have problems adding). He is the only person who understands me and probably the only person that ever will. We live far away from our families but we have each other and a dog and a guest bedroom for people to stay in when they visit (which is often). We live in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina.
I have always loved RL fashion. I even have a BS degree in fashion product development from the biggest textile college in the USA, but I'm not on the creative design part of things. I don't draw pretty pictures of waifs wearing froofy dresses. I'm a technical designer, which in layman terms means I'm a pattern maker.
I got involved in SL when my hubby and I moved away from our families. He has several family members that have active avatars and I wanted to keep in touch with them in the cheapest and most efficient way possible. Thus, Caylla Winnikow was born on 4/28/2008. I was lured in with the thought that you could have fun and make money at the same time and since I have experience designing RL clothes, I could create SL clothes as well, right? Wrong. Maybe one day, but not today. It's too much like RL work and it quickly lost my interest.
Modeling on the other hand is something I would never be interested in when it comes to RL. Physical appearance isn't as important to me as my mental well being and I can't even imagine my income being based on what I look like. SL modeling is very different though because everyone can be beautiful or have the perfect body. Therefore a great personality is what makes you shine as an individual.
On Caylla's rezday, my sister in law gave me a skin that a friend of hers custom made and 200L to buy hair with at Sirena. I thought I was hot! Then I found fashion blogs. I didn't have a clue about fashion in SL before I found those blogs. I credit those beautiful pictures on the feed with my obsession with SL fashion. I entered my first modeling contest and got second place! Oh the places I could go if I stuck to it. I found JCNY Model fest and met my best friend Arhat Bingyi there. She sponsored an education at Avenue Modeling School for me, where I met Zelda Homewood, my more glamourous best friend. I really believe these two fascinating women are what keep me motivated both in RL and in SL.
So that is what this blog will be about: my adventures in modeling and with my two best friends Arhat and Zelda.
